Face ID with mask support arrives in iOS 15.4 beta

Face ID with mask support arrives in iOS 15.4 beta

If you use an iPhone with a face ID (or any phone that opens through face recognition, in this case), there is a little doubt that you have experienced frustration trying to unlock your cellphone while wearing a face mask. As many people have learned throughout the Pandemic Covid-19, facial masks are quite effective to stop the face id in his footsteps. When we approached the third year of Pandemi, Apple was finally ready to launch a solution that did not require an apple watch.

As seen by people in MacRumors, iOS 15.4 Beta eventually allows users to use facaid when wearing a face mask. IPhone users will no longer swipe to unlock their cellphone using a password, as a simple view on the iPhone must do it after this feature launches to everyone in iOS 15.4.

You don’t only need to turn on this feature before you can use it, but you also have to post your face with your mask to function. According to the image shared by Macrumor, Apple said that “the most accurate face ID when arranged only for full face recognition,” which shows that users may still face some errors when trying to unlock their cellphone.

Apple’s description continues to say, “To use the face ID while wearing a mask, the iPhone can recognize the unique features around the eye area to authenticate. You have to see your iPhone to use the face id while wearing a mask.” So far, it’s quite standard, but Apple too warn warnings: do not wear sunglasses if you also wear a mask. It makes sense because when you consider the area that is covered by sunglasses and a face mask together, there will hardly be a facial feature that remains remaining for Face ID scanning.

Although it might seem like this ability arrived a little late to the party, given that we would enter the third year of the pandemic, iOS was baked in some support to unlock through the Id letter. However, which requires users to also wear an apple watch on their wrists and are not locked, and it has its own weaknesses.

For starters, not everyone who has an iPhone also has an apple watch, so those people have no choice to unlock their cellphone with Face ID while wearing a mask. As described on the Apple support site, this functionality also requires an Apple watch you are on your wrist and is not locked to work, so not only add some extra steps to the process, but leaving Apple Watch at home means that there is no open face ID for you.

However, it seems that this new face ID feature will be limited to the scope too, because Macrumor notes that it will only be available for iPhone 12 users and iPhone 13 (and the possibility of all new iPhones from now). We will notify you when iOS 15.4 out beta and everyone can take advantage of this new functionality, so stay here for more.
